On Friday, June 3rd I hosted the anniversary party for the Brooklyn Salsa Company. Originally held at Tortilleria Los Hermanos on Starr St. we quickly moved the event to another tortilleria at the last minute: Tortilleria Chinantla on Grand St.
Big BIG thank you to my Chinantla family for helping us out!
The party raged in two rooms: one for the booze and salsa, one for the bands and dancing. Handing out free shots of jalapeño-infused tequila got the night started right, and GDFX @GDF_X got the crowd dancing. By the time Unstoppable Death Machines @DeathMachinesNY plugged in, the night was already a notch past surreal. And with DJ Teenwolf @djteenwolf on the decks, no one could resist the wolf couture.

In 2008 the young founders redesigned their Bushwick loft into a loud, bustling kitchen and biked secret salsa tacos to the neighborhood. Growing through word of mouth, news quickly spread about these delicious tacos and the young Bushwick operation. At the time, customers had only five taco and salsa options to chose from: Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, and Staten Island.
It wasn’t long until this DIY venture blossomed into a bona fide business. This is some damn delicious salsa! And one year ago this summer, BK Salsa launched their radical flavors into grocery stores across the city and beyond.
And now, needless to say, they’re ready to FCKNG PRTY.
