Smart is sexy.
This Wednesday, February 29th, four successful business owners (start-ups, impresarios, movers and shakers) presenting their companies and concepts before a seated audience. Free to public with reception to follow.
Organized in The Yard’s relaxed open‐space lobby, this event is an attempt to inspire and encourage our entrepreneurial community to meet, mingle and exchange ideas.
Four entrepreneurs will present the concepts and histories of their businesses and openly tell the stories of how they got to… quit their day jobs. An audience Q&A will follow and a wine reception will conclude the evening.
Come meet emerging business owners and successful entrepreneurs at The Yard, Williamsurg’s first private co-‐working office space.

The WG News + Arts – Keeping it local.
I wrote two stories for the current issue of the Williamsburg Greenpoint News + Arts newspaper. Each story profiles a local Greenpoint business: Cup, the coffee shop on Norman Avenue, and The Yard, a new co-working facility on Nassau Avenue. Both businesses are a stone’s throw from my loft and it was a pleasure to meet with the owners and craft profiles of businesses in my neighborhood.

This Wednesday, 1/25 DJ Keyboard Cat has invited me to join him in playing an all-night set of 1970s psychedelic music from all over the world. DJ Keyboard Cat is one of the world’s premiere music ethnographers and I am thrilled to be sharing the decks with him for one of his rare NYC performances! You can expect some Nigerian discofunk, Peruvian chicha, Spansish acid rumba, Mali gangsta rap, and who knows what else. Keyboard Cat and I spent this last weekend listening to a ton of trippy music from all over the world, and we’ve put together a set that we hope will be like nothing you’ve ever heard. Come have a drink and take a listen.

Tonight Professor Wexler and I recorded the second installment of our radio show. It’s about an hour long and we play hits by Jeff Mangum, Chairlift, Kendrick Lamar, Etta James, and more. We sound amazing – you should really take a listen.

Has it been a year already?
It’s been some time since I produced a radio show. Some of y’all may remember Yr Weekend Starts Now, my weekly radio show at Newtown Radio. Getting in the studio and playing music and discussing music for a couple hours, it’s the best! I miss it.

And so: Professor Wexler and I built a new studio – still working out the kinks – and recorded a show to run through my list of Top Ten Albums of 2011. We’re a little rusty on the mics, we don’t even play any music until the eighth minute and it takes us almost two hours to get through the top ten albums but hey, there’s no rules with internet radio!
